The Reference Labyrinth

The content of every folio in the Codex is cross-referenced to five other folios. These connections are mapped out visually in a vast mnemonic architectural diagram, or Reference Labyrinth, in which every room represents a folio.

The corridors, stairs, and doorways leading from each room represent links to adjoining folios. The Keepers describe these links as "outward" paths because the lines of association are often one-way. A path from one folio to another does not necessarily lead back.

Each folio's room contains a simple and specific object. Each object, acting like a navigational aid in the Labyrinth, relates to the particular aspect of the Synapse Myth represented by a given folio.
